About the Role
The Shipping and Receiving Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for coordinating daily shipping and receiving operations, while actively working alongside the team. This role supports cross-departmental collaboration, trains and develops employees, drives continuous improvement, tracks key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensures compliance with safety standards and company policies.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform and oversee outbound shipping and inbound receiving operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with procedures and specifications.
  • Verify inventory, documentation, and product condition during receiving and shipping processes.
  • Coordinate workflow to meet daily operational priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments (Production, Quality, Customer Service) to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams regarding orders, delays, or operational concerns.
  • Serve as a working leader, actively participating in daily operations while leading by example.
  • Train new and existing employees on processes, equipment, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members.
  • Support employee engagement, accountability, and adherence to performance expectations.
  • Identify operational issues and inefficiencies through observation and data analysis.
  • Utilize problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques to address recurring issues.
  • Implement and support improvements related to process flow, productivity, accuracy, and quality.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support standard work development.
  • Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, productivity, accuracy, and on-time delivery.
  • Communicate performance results to leadership and team members.
  • Use KPI data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all safety rules, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety observations and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed consistently.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly and participate in corrective actions.
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and relevant publications to maintain knowledge of operations, and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team, department, or organizational objectives.
