Job Description
JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Injection Mold Operator is responsible for supporting aerospace manufacturing operations through the setup, operation, and monitoring of injection molding equipment used to produce precision plastic components. This position requires strict adherence to quality standards, detailed documentation, and consistent compliance with aerospace manufacturing requirements. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong process discipline, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing defect-free parts in a regulated environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Including but not limited to:
- Operate plastic injection molding machines to produce aerospace-grade components in accordance with approved work instructions and production schedules.
- Set up molds, tooling, and machine parameters following established process sheets and engineering documentation.
- Monitor molding processes and make parameter adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and part consistency.
- Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Verify raw material certifications, lot numbers, and resin handling procedures to ensure full material traceability.
- Accurately complete production records, inspection documentation, and non-conformance reports in accordance with AS9100 and internal quality requirements.
- Identify process deviations or equipment issues and communicate findings Quality, Engineering, or Maintenance as required.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance tasks to support equipment reliability.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with all safety, ESD, and housekeeping standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and process control.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or manufacturing training preferred.
- Previous experience in injection molding within aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO, or similar quality management systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Understanding of plastic resin, molding parameters, and basic process troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in use of precision measuring and inspection tools.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to follow controlled processes and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 30-50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks as required.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position is conducted primarily in a warehouse and production environment and involves frequent movement, including walking, standing, lifting, and handling materials. Work may require operating material-handling equipment and performing tasks in areas with varying temperatures, noise levels, and typical industrial conditions.
