Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the day-to-day execution of multiple Heavy Highway construction projects and crews across Southeast Louisiana. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, safely, and in strict compliance with contract documents and quality standards.
The Operations Manager works closely with ownership, project managers, field leadership, and safety personnel to align execution strategy, allocate resources efficiently, mitigate risk, and mentor the next generation of leaders. This role carries real accountability and influence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational oversight for all active Heavy Highway construction projects and crews
- Partner closely with Project Managers to establish execution strategies, staffing plans, and resource allocation
- Ensure projects adhere to contract documents, schedules, budgets, specifications, and quality standards
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and financial risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Conduct detailed reviews of plans, specifications, and contract requirements prior to and during construction
- Support and enforce company and site-specific safety programs in coordination with the safety team
- Monitor project performance, schedules, and reporting to ensure timely and accurate execution
- Serve as a communication bridge between project teams and company leadership
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and partners
- Train, mentor, and develop staff in project management and estimating best practices
- Provide leadership presence both in the office and in the field as needed
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of construction industry experience, with a strong background in Heavy Highway construction
- 10+ years of project management experience (field experience strongly preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management
- Demonstrated history of stable employment and long-term roles
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and hold teams accountable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and enforce plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related management discipline
- Experience mentoring project managers and estimators
- Background working with DOT or municipal infrastructure projects
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $140,000 – $180,000 (DOE)
