Diesel Technician/Mechanic – Full-Time (1st Shift)

Pay Range: $32.00–$38.00/hr
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of our truck fleet. This role requires someone who is comfortable working independently for most tasks, with the ability to manage routine diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance both in-shop and during occasional on-road service.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Diesel Technician will perform a wide range of maintenance and repair work on diesel engines, chassis, bodies, and refuse equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing electrical, hydraulic, and control systems, completing preventative maintenance, and using electronic diagnostic tools. Welding and fabrication skills are a plus. While support is available when needed, the technician should be confident in handling day-to-day tasks independently.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Independently diagnose and repair diesel engines, chassis, bodies, and heavy equipment
- Diagnose issues with electrical, hydraulic, and control systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair work both in-shop and during on-road service calls
- Use electronic tools and diagnostic equipment
- Welding and fabrication skills are a plus
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational/technical certification or post-secondary technical training preferred
- Must provide basic tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong analytical and repair skills
- Four (4) years of relevant experience preferred
- Effective communication skills
- Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license; reliability and punctuality required
