Literacy and Assessment Tech SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Principal, the Literacy and Assessment Tech will support students in the literacy skills needed to learn to read, read to learn and comprehend.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Tutor and assist children in the development of reading skills in grades kindergarten through third.
  • Engage in academic activities, either one-on-one or with small groups.
  • Follow lesson plans to assist students' academic reading needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the literacy needs of students and set learning goals and targets.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of all students’ progress.
  • Assist teachers with the collection of data and analysis of data results.
  • Collaborates with district-level and school personnel to plan programs.
  • Assist students using software and materials related to literacy programs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to literacy as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines

  • Verified completion of two years of college or 48 semester hours or have two-years of early childhood experience.
  • Previous experience working with students
  • Demonstrated compassion and understanding for children
  • Experience working with confidential records preferred
  • Shall have the ability to work and communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff members

Knowledge of:
  • District and Department policies and procedures;
  • Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases;
  • Pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.

 

Skill in:

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proper English, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation
  • Use of computers and technology, to include, but not  limited  to  email, internet, Microsoft Office or equivalent software

 

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A valid State Driver’s License may be required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with public and staff.
