Summer internships are paid and are 8 to 12 weeks in duration. Interns must hire and onboard no later than June 22, 2026. The work is onsite in Richland, WA.
The Strategic Planning intern supports enterprise-level strategic planning activities, including executive leadership and board-facing strategy sessions. The role assists with planning logistics, research, analysis, and synthesis of strategic materials, helping translate complex information into clear insights that support decision-making. This position provides direct exposure to executive leadership, governance processes, and long-range strategic planning in a highly professional environment.

Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering
Political Science (with a governance or policy focus)
DESIRED SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communications; able to distill complex ideas clearly
Analytical mindset with comfort working with data, frameworks, and research
High professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail in executive settings
Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

GENERAL SUMMARY
Provide administrative support for the designated organization based on assigned projects. Assigned projects will be in the area of business practices in support of the department. This position will be directly accountable to assigned department staff and will support assigned project related activities and initiatives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support assigned routine department activities.
Support project-related activities within the department.
Support emergent related work or assignments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Requires current part to full time enrollment status, or a recent graduate, in a bachelor’s or higher degree program at an accredited college or university.
Area of study must be in an administrative field related to the assigned role.
Target hire is a student at a Junior or Senior status level at the time the internship commences. Students earlier in their college experience will be considered, along with recent graduates (within six months of graduation).
Must maintain a minimum 2.8 cumulative G.P.A. unless approved by Human Resources.
A High School diploma/GED is required.
Pay is based on academic level:
Freshman: $19.31 per hour
Sophomore: $19.31 per hour
Junior: $20.35 per hour
Senior: $24.10 per hour
BenefitsTemporary employees may be required to participate in the Washington State Pension Plan (PERS) and may also be eligible to enroll in medical insurance if the duration and hours worked requirements are met. Temporary employees accrue paid time off that is available to use after 90 days of employment.
