The EVS Housekeeper plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position ensures that all hospital areas—including patient rooms, operating rooms, public spaces, and offices—are cleaned and disinfected according to hospital standards and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, surgical suites, emergency rooms, and other clinical areas.
- Perform terminal cleaning of discharged patient rooms following infection control guidelines.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces and restock supplies in restrooms and common areas.
- Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps containers.
- Operate hospital-grade cleaning equipment (e.g., UV disinfection systems, floor scrubbers).
- Follow strict protocols for infection prevention, including use of PPE.
- Respond promptly to emergency cleaning requests and spills.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate compassion in patient care areas.
- Document cleaning activities as required by hospital policy.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control and hospital sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and hospital procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
Work Environment:
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and infectious materials.
- Requires wearing PPE and adherence to hospital safety protocols.
- May involve working in sensitive areas such as ICU, ER, and isolation rooms.
