Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring BLS, NIHSS, and at least 2 years of specialty experience within the last year.

• Work on a 36-bed telemetry/surgical unit within a hospital setting
\n
• Patient ratio of 1:6
\n
• Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
\n
• 13-week assignment length
\n
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
\n
• EPIC EMR system used
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required in hand
\n
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
\n
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
\n
• Specialty experience required within the last year
\n
• EPIC charting system experience preferred
\n
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
\n
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen administration), isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry/cardiac monitoring, and medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA)
\n
• Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, and pre/post hemodialysis management
\n

• Provide nursing care on a combined medical-surgical and telemetry unit
\n
• Care for patients with conditions including CVA, renal failure, and surgical needs
\n
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
\n
• Candidates cannot work both travel assignments and per diem contracts simultaneously at this facility
\n
• Previous permanent employees must have a 6-month gap before returning as a traveler
\n
• RTO should be kept to a minimum, with no more than 7 days total requested and no full calendar weeks off during the assignment
\n
• All RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed in the offer; no additional RTO will be approved after an offer is extended
\n
