Position Summary:
The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors and callers to the Tribal Government offices, providing a welcoming, professional, and culturally respectful environment. This position performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties including answering phones, greeting and directing the public, managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, and providing general office support to Tribal departments. The Receptionist ensures confidentiality and accuracy in all communications, supports the smooth operation of daily office functions, and upholds the values, mission, and sovereignty of the Tribe through courteous and efficient service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serves as the first point of contact for visitors, community members and callers to Tribal offices.
- Greet the public in a courteous, professional, and culturally respectful manner.
- Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of calls, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department, ensuring professional telephone etiquette.
- Receives, sorts, and routes mail and packages.
- Maintains and operates office machines, equipment, and computers; performs or coordinates general maintenance and repair.
- Orders and maintains inventory of office supplies.
- Transmits outgoing faxes, and retrieves, logs, and distributes incoming faxes.
- Communicate with staff, clients, and co-workers to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.
- Cleans and maintains the reception area.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding staff, clients and other confidential information. Presents a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.
- Supports Enrollment, the Executive Assistants, and Chairman, as necessary.
- Act as backup authorized staff member for the issuance of Enhanced Tribal Identification Cards, in accordance with Tribal policies, procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Required to attend biannual General Council meetings and perform assigned support duties, which may include setup, coordination, attendee assistance and related administrative tasks.
- Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of traditional form of government and tribal customs and traditions.
- Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
- Knowledge of office functions, procedures, and policies.
- Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheet and database software programs in a Windows environment.
- Skill in treating internal and external customers with tact, courtesy, and respect; responds well and is welcoming in social settings.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, be flexible and meet deadlines.
