Great news! Schillings is currently looking for a Master Diesel Technician with a minimum of 10 years' experience as a master tech at our Mokena, IL location. The purpose of this position is to diagnose and repair all systems on diesel trucks to include strong electrical diagnostics with a complete understanding of test procedures to verify and fix failures. Also include but not limited to, engine, transmission, front axle, rear axle, suspension, air conditioning, heating, and air brakes. We offer competitive pay along with a full package of benefits. The typical shift is 6am-4pm, Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on private fleet in clean, safe shop facilities
  • Provide bumper to bumper preventive maintenance service and/or repair to truck fleet, including diesel trucks/semi's (up to Class 8)
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, and completing winterization procedures
  • Electrical troubleshooting, brake and air conditioning system repair, as needed
  • Diagnose and repair vehicles that are not running properly
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Handle road service calls, as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned

Education/Required Skills:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Complete tool set is required for this position
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Master Diesel Technician
  • Class B CDL or willing to obtain one
  • Complete knowledge of diesel trucks, air brake engines, and other technical understanding
  • Tooling, supply management, mechanical inspection tools
  • Ability to problem solve, strong attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively within the department, while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Keep track of all the vehicles being serviced with fleet software
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment and parts regularly
  • Be punctual and reliable, while working in all weather conditions
  • Potential travel to other locations
