Transportation Coordinator

Description

This is an in-person position, located in Aurora, IL.

• Monitor and manage incoming email traffic, prioritizing urgent operational and customer needs
• Identify customer exceptions and ensure accurate, timely updates in TMW
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to resolve service issues and prevent repeat exceptions
• Negotiate rates with outside carriers and brokers to ensure freight is moved profitably for VIM
• Coordinate with export brokers to obtain and submit required documentation for international shipments
• Monitor, review, and take action on internal scale tickets to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Draft and develop next-day plans for company drivers to support efficient routing and utilization
• Maintain accurate operational data to support reporting, billing, and decision-making
• Collaborate with operations, dispatch, and leadership to support overall service and cost objectives

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in time-sensitive situations
• High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy
• Comfortable negotiating with carriers, brokers, or service providers
• Proficient with transportation management systems (TMS); experience with TMW strongly preferred
• Intermediate Excel or reporting skills

• Experience working with export documentation or international freight
• Familiarity with scale tickets, driver planning, or dispatch support
• Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset

• Some schedule flexibility may be required based on freight activity

• TMW data is accurate, timely, and reliable
• Freight is covered at profitable rates with minimal last-minute escalations
• Drivers have clear, well-planned next-day assignments
• Communication with customers, brokers, and internal teams is proactive and professional
