General Overview 

The Student Outreach Coordinator – Social Media & Academic Clubs (SOC) will work with the Employer Relations Team to increase connections between student organizations and Career Services. The SOC will be responsible for creating content for the Career Services Instagram page, supporting and marketing career events, and providing guidance to academic clubs in planning career-related events. This includes creating, monitoring and recording content and performance of the Career Services Instagram page; connecting clubs to employer and Career Services resources for events; and supporting career fairs, information sessions, and other events to give students as many touch-points with employers as possible.  

 

Time: 10 to 12 hours a week (schedule set quarterly based on class schedules, availability and work responsibilities) 

Reports to: Training and supervision provided by Susan Vinson, Assistant Director of Employer Engagement in Career Services  

Pay: $21.30/hr 

 

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities 

 

Social Media & Marketing Responsibilities  

  • Promote career-related programming and events on Career Services Instagram page
  • Create visual and narrative Instagram content 
  • Communicate with students and respond to direct messages sent to the Career Services Instagram page 
  • Collect and report Instagram statistics to improve user experience for students
  • Collaborate with other SOCs and the Program Assistant to curate the weekly Career Services newsletter
  • Assist in planning, publicizing and implementing Career Services events and programs
    • Market services to students through club presentations, and other marketing outlets
    • Assist staff in managing event logistics and details, as needed 

 

Support and Outreach to Academic Clubs 

  • Collaborate with UW Bothell Student Clubs and partners to cross promote career-related opportunities
  • Meet with student clubs to provide event planning assistance and increase communication with Career Services concerning career-related events
  • Connect clubs to employer and Career Services resources for events and workshops
  • Maintain a relationship with Club Council, and Student Activities and Engagement to assist in informing Career Services of students' needs and concerns 

 

Administrative Duties 

  • Monitor SOC Outlook Mailbox and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
  • Assist with content management of the Career Services’ Student Clubs website  
  • Provide high-level administrative support to professional staff and team members 

 

 Title IX Training  

 

All new student employees must also complete UW's online Title IX course about preventing and responding to sex-and gender-based violence and harassment.

Minimum Requirements 

  • A current UW Bothell undergraduate or graduate student and plan to be enrolled for the 2026-2027 Academic Year
  • Maintain a cumulative and quarterly GPA of at least 2.5
  • Contribute professionally and respectfully to UWB’s diverse and inclusive work environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to use tact and diplomacy in working with students, alumni, employers, coworkers, supervisors, and others in a friendly and courteous manner

  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills, with the ability to manage several projects concurrently and autonomously

Time Commitment 

  • Employment Term: April 2026 through Spring Quarter 2027. Summer hours may be adjusted based on workload and department needs. 
  • Available to work some evenings for scheduled events throughout the year (Career Fairs, tabling events, and club events, etc.) 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Club experience
  • Experience in marketing through social media, specifically Instagram and with Instagram Insights
  • Experience with events or program planning
