Electrical Design Engineer III – Nuclear
Location: New Hill, NC
Assignment Length: Long-term contract (3 years, renewable contract)
Client: Major U.S. Utility (Nuclear Generation)
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer III to support electrical design and modification projects within a nuclear power generation environment. This role focuses heavily on MCC breaker replacements, electrical system upgrades, and design verification for large-scale plant electrical projects.
This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on design work, technical problem solving, and contributing to the reliability and safety of critical power infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing
Perform electrical design work with a primary focus on MCC breaker replacements, along with other plant electrical modifications as assigned
Support electrical design verification for major plant projects such as:
Transformer replacements
Electrical component upgrades
System modifications and improvements
Develop and review electrical calculations to ensure design accuracy and compliance
Collaborate with plant engineering teams, project managers, and other disciplines to ensure safe and effective implementation of design changes
Ensure all work complies with nuclear industry standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related engineering discipline)
Experience performing electrical design in an industrial or power generation environment
Hands-on experience with MCCs, breakers, transformers, and plant electrical systems
Experience supporting design verification for large electrical projects
Strong background in electrical calculations development and review
ETAP experience is a plus
Ability to work within structured engineering processes in a highly regulated environment
Nice to Have
Previous experience in nuclear power or other regulated power generation facilities
Familiarity with plant modification processes and engineering change documentation
