Job Description
Job Title: Electrician
Overview
The Electrician plays a vital role within the Installation Department, supporting the successful completion of residential and light commercial heat pump and ductless mini-split system installations. This position works closely with Installation Technicians, Comfort Specialists, and Operations to ensure all electrical components are installed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations. The role also includes occasional companion electrical work such as panel upgrades, generator connections, and wiring for tankless water heaters—ensuring every project meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & Wiring
- Perform electrical wiring, conduit installation, and termination for heat pumps, mini-split systems, air handlers, and condensers.
- Install dedicated circuits, breakers, disconnects, surge protection, and grounding systems per NEC and manufacturer specifications.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, equipment schematics, and blueprints to ensure accurate connections.
- Coordinate with HVAC Installers to ensure proper power availability and system readiness prior to commissioning.
- Inspect existing electrical systems and make necessary upgrades to meet load, code, and safety requirements.
- Verify proper amperage, voltage, and circuit protection for each installation.
- Perform limited companion work including panel upgrades, generator tie-ins, and wiring for tankless water heaters as required.
Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues related to HVAC systems, thermostats, and control wiring.
- Provide technical support to field installers and service teams regarding power or control circuit concerns.
- Assist with customer call-backs or warranty evaluations involving electrical components.
- Maintain communication with supervisors and project managers regarding job progress, changes, or field conditions.
Safety, Compliance & Inspection
- Ensure all electrical work meets or exceeds NEC, state, and local codes.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, company, and local safety regulations at all times.
- Conduct final quality and safety checks before project completion.
- Document all completed work accurately, including photos, wiring diagrams, and compliance checklists.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of residential or light commercial electrical experience, preferably within HVAC, generator, or water heating systems.
- South Carolina Master Electrician License required.
- Solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), grounding/bonding practices, and ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and load calculations.
- Experience wiring inverter-driven and variable-speed systems (Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu, etc.) a plus.
- Familiarity with generator circuits, tankless water heater wiring, and panel service upgrades beneficial.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred.
