Job Description
Marathon TS is looking for a Systems Engineer IV that provides senior-level systems engineering leadership in support of DoD. This role ensures certain capabilities are engineered, secured, accredited, and governed in alignment with DoD, USTRANSCOM, and program-level requirements. Serving across the Systems Engineering and Testing Branch and the Chief Scientist function, the Systems Engineer IV integrates technical rigor, cybersecurity compliance, and Agile governance to support reliable, mission-ready outcomes

Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Technical Oversight
- Perform systems engineering analysis for complex DoD information systems, including evaluation, verification, and validation of existing and emerging solutions.
- Develop, review, and maintain system architectures and engineering artifacts using DoDAF or other government-approved frameworks.
- Conduct technical reviews of contractor deliverables and provide recommendations to improve system performance, reliability, and security.
- Identify technical risks across the system lifecycle and develop practical mitigation strategies.
- Participate in engineering milestone reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and ORR.
Cybersecurity & RMF Support
- Support RMF and system authorization activities, including development, review, and sustainment of accreditation documentation.
- Provide recommendations on cybersecurity best practices to support authorization, audits, assessments, and long-term sustainment.
- Coordinate with security engineers, developers, DISA, and government stakeholders to resolve security and compliance issues.
Agile Requirements & Governance
- Review and support Agile requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment with system architecture and security constraints.
- Facilitate or support Agile governance forums, including Change Control Boards (CCBs), ST/ARTs, Requirements Review Boards (RRBs), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs).
- Provide analytical and administrative support to requirements, engineering, and technical review boards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Active SECRET clearance.
- Minimum of nine (9) years of relevant systems engineering experience supporting complex IT or DoD systems.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Systems engineering and architecture development
- RMF, cybersecurity accreditation, and compliance activities
- Agile environments and requirements management
- Technical reviews and engineering governance forums
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior government stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and lead technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working across technical, functional, financial, and administrative teams.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting or implementing ERP solutions delivered via a SaaS model in a DoD or Federal environment.
- Knowledge of ERP-driven business process reengineering and configuration-based solution design.
- Experience with system integration, data migration, and master data management in ERP environments.
- Familiarity with RMF, cloud security, and FedRAMP considerations for SaaS solutions.
- Experience supporting Agile or SAFe governance for COTS/SaaS implementations.
- Experience supporting USTRANSCOM, Combatant Command, or other DoD PMO environments.
- In-depth knowledge of DevSecOps, cloud technologies, and secure system design.
- Experience supporting Agile Release Trains (ARTs) or SAFe-based environments.
- Familiarity with system testing, audits, and sustainment activities.
- DoD 8140 work role certification: Security+.
