Pay Range

$40,700.00-$56,000.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Job Description: Machinist I

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various machines, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and producing high-quality parts. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, precision, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety and PPE:
  • Select and use task-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain safe work habits to protect self and others.
  • Ensure hand safety and proper hazardous communication.
  • Follow Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO) procedures.
• Equipment Operation:
  • Operate forklifts and cranes safely, including pre-use inspections and rigging.
  • Perform machine guarding and basic machine maintenance.
  • Conduct entry-level set-ups for required tasks.
• Machining Tasks:
  • Operate entry-level lathe, vertical mill, and balancing machines.
  • Perform turning (straight/taper), facing, grooving, threading, single point threading, chamfering, drilling, and center drilling.
  • Hold tolerances to +/- .005 and meet surface finish requirements.
• Technical Skills:
  • Read and interpret blueprints and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Use common hand tools and entry-level measuring instruments (tape measure, scale, micrometer, caliper).
  • Apply basic shop math (measurements, geometry, volume, area) and introduction to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Tooling and Maintenance:
  • Sharpen drill bits and grind flats/reliefs.
  • Understand tooling coatings and life spans (carbide, HSS).
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and pre-use inspections.
• Computer Skills:
  • Utilize email, safety skills software, Workday, and SharePoint.
  • Document good catches and manage waste streams (scrap metal, environmental).
• Housekeeping and Production:
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Comprehend and sign off on Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Meet production standards and perform visual inspections.

Minimal Requirements:

• No previous experience required
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of machining principles and safety protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Proficiency in basic shop math and computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new tasks and technologies.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.

• Standing for extended periods.

• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing plant with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.

• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
