Are you ready to make a mark in the world of forensic engineering? S-E-A is on the look-out for a passionate Fire Protection Engineer to join our team of subject matter experts. Here, you won't just be another employee, you'll be a vital contributor.

We offer a comprehensive training program, so even if you're new to the forensic field, we'll equip you with the skills you need to thrive - previous experience is a plus, passion is essential! In order to make and cultivate relationships, training on-site full time is required. Hybrid flex policy is available thereafter.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Investigate commercial and residential fires that may involve mechanical systems or fire protection systems
  • Conduct field investigations and perform forensic engineering & failure/accident analysis on incidents involving fires, fire protection systems, pressure vessels, HVAC systems, boilers, gas systems, plumbing systems, etc.
  • Conduct unbiased investigations for various clients
  • Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in written reports
  • Responsible for retention and development of client relationships
  • Prepare and submit written reports, documenting findings and results when requested
  • Explain to clients, in layman's terms, your investigation, analysis and findings
  • Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
  • Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company-paid educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
  • Develop and maintain client relations
  • Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
  • Regular and predictable presence at work



Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering required; Masters Degree preferred
  • P. E. registration or ability to obtain
  • CFI certification or ability to obtain
  • Fire Investigation experience or desire to learn a must
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems, gas systems, sprinkler systems and plumbing
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of post-academic engineering experience
  • Forensic, design or testing experience/exposure
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and writing skills

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to drive in all conditions
  • Ability to fly on airplanes
  • Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
  • Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
