Position Overview:

This position supports inventory cost accounting, valuation, and reporting activities, ensuring accurate financial data and strong inventory controls. The role is responsible for monitoring inventory trends, identifying discrepancies, and improving processes related to inventory management and costing. Working closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams, this position plays a key role in supporting operational inventory initiatives and providing analysis that influences business performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage standard costing and inventory valuation for all landed cost components, including purchase price, duties, tariffs, freight, and broker-related fees.
  • Develop and distribute recurring inventory reporting on a weekly and monthly basis for finance and leadership stakeholders.
  • Review inventory transactions and data patterns to identify irregularities, resolve variances, and recommend corrective actions supported by root-cause findings.
  • Lead the accounting function for physical inventory and cycle count programs in partnership with logistics and operations.
  • Provide oversight of cycle count activity performed by a small inventory count team and ensure accurate daily execution.
  • Maintain ownership of inventory aging analysis and collaborate with internal teams to address excess or obsolete stock through sales and planning efforts.
  • Coordinate all inventory-related audits and third-party appraisals, including external CPA reviews and lender collateral assessments.
  • Support the evaluation of inventory reserves and provide recommendations for appropriate reserve calculations.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly in areas related to inventory accounting and cost of goods sold.
  • Minimum of three years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing or consumer products setting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex reporting capabilities.
  • Experience working within an ERP environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with experience compiling and interpreting data from multiple sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, emotional intelligence, and strong business partnering approach.


Salary Range: $80k - $100k
