JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in performing complex accounting activities, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting the integrity of the general ledger. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work independently on advanced tasks such as reconciliations, month-end close, and financial analysis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Process vendors invoice accurately and ensure timely payments.
- Review customer invoicing and monitor accounts receivable balances.
- Support collection efforts by ensuring proper follow-up on outstanding receivables.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Prepare and review journal entries and ensure proper accounting classifications.
- Record daily, weekly, and monthly transactions in the accounting system.
- Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile credit card statements, petty cash, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and contribute to accurate inventory valuation.
- Coordinate with inventory teams to ensure correct accounting treatment of pharmaceutical inventory.
- Record and adjust inventory-related journal entries during month-end closing.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Execute month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Provide variance analysis and support forecasting activities.
- Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP, internal policies, and applicable tax regulations.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to enhancements in accounting systems and workflows.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA is a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems or multi-entity accounting.
- Familiarity with audit processes and financial reporting tools.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with month-end close processes and reconciliations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Spanish language fluency (preferred)
- Experience in pharmacy or retail industry accounting is strongly preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office environment or hybrid/remote setup, depending on company policy.
- May require extended hours during peak periods such as month-end close or audits.
