What does a Swim Lesson Coordinator do?

As the part-time Swim Lesson Coordinator for American Fork City, you will play a key role in overseeing and managing the swim lesson program. This position includes supervising the Assistant Coordinator, Swim Instructors, and Swim Aides, with support from the Assistant Coordinator. You will be responsible for scheduling instructors and aides for morning lessons, private and semi-private lessons, and ensuring the smooth daily operation of AM swim instruction and Adaptive Swim Instruction programs.

In this role, you will manage lesson communication by distributing updates and important information through a constant contact software and creating and reviewing participation surveys to help improve program quality. You will work closely with the Assistant Coordinator to plan and lead swim instructor in-service trainings, supporting ongoing staff development and consistent instruction standards.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for parents, responding to emails, addressing scheduling questions, and resolving class scheduling issues. You will also collaborate with the Aquatics Manager to monitor lesson revenue and expenses, ensuring accurate reporting and effective program management.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating and assigning private swim lessons, managing the availability and distribution of level pass cards, and assisting with the hiring process by conducting instructor interviews and supporting onboarding for new swim instructors and aides. As the main contact for swim lesson staff, you will conduct instructor evaluations, provide feedback, and help drive continuous improvement in swim instruction, water safety, and overall program success within the community.

• Experience with the structure and flow of group and private swim lessons
• Knowledge of swim lesson levels, progression standards, and level pass criteria
• Understanding of basic water safety principles and swim instruction methods
• Previous experience in an aquatic or swim lesson program preferred
• Strong communication skills with staff, parents, and participants
• Ability to supervise, support, and motivate assistant coordinator, swim instructors and aides
• Experience leading staff trainings and providing constructive feedback
• Excellent organizational skills, including scheduling staff and lesson coverage
• Strong problem-solving skills during live swim lesson operations
• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively
• Ability to manage supplies and instructional materials
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service in aquatic programs
• Ability to apply best practices in parent and participant communication
• Certifications Required: Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification REQUIRED
