The Lab & Inventory Technician plays a critical role in keeping our operations running smoothly by ensuring equipment, parts, and devices are organized, accurate, and ready for use. This hands-on role is split evenly between lab support and inventory management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with both technology and logistics. You’ll support equipment assembly, testing, and preparation while also managing shipping, receiving, inventory tracking, and audits. This is a 100% onsite position at our Columbus, MN location.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Lab & Technical Support (Approximately 50%)
- Assist with assembly, configuration, testing, and minor repair of electronic components and devices
- Prepare equipment and parts for deployment, including labeling, kitting, and documentation
- Perform basic quality checks to ensure equipment meets internal standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient lab environment
- Follow established lab procedures and safety guidelines
Inventory Management, Shipping & Receiving (Approximately 50%)
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming packages, parts, and equipment
- Prepare and ship outbound packages accurately and on schedule
- Maintain accurate inventory records for parts, components, and equipment
- Perform regular inventory audits and cycle counts
- Organize inventory locations to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Identify inventory discrepancies, shortages, or obsolete items and communicate findings
Process & Documentation
- Follow and help improve standard operating procedures related to lab and inventory activities
- Document inventory movements, equipment status, and basic repair activity
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory accuracy and lab efficiency

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: with shipping/receiving, inventory control, or warehouse operations

- Experience working with electronics or technical equipment
- Familiarity with inventory audits or cycle counting
- Experience in a lab, operations, or technical support environment

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- Remains in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a scanner, copy machine and printer.
- Communicates with others in their area of expertise, both internally and externally. Exchanges accurate information in these situations.
- Frequently moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally, the individual in this position will need to stand, reach, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include normal vision.
- The office environment will have normal lighting and climate control tolerances.
- Additionally, the office setting will have moderate noise exposure, i.e. business office with computers, printers, and light traffic.
- Travel conditions may involve being in an aircraft or automobile for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in the business office at a minimum of 40 hours a week.
