POSITION SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible to diagnose equipment failures, perform repairs, and complete maintenance work on both shop and lite and heavy Equipment and Company Trucks. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on light vehicles, heavy trucks, trailers, dumpsters, storage containers, and construction equipment (e.g., excavators, skid steers, loaders, etc.)
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues using diagnostic tools and manuals
  • Complete brake jobs, fluid services, cooling system repairs, suspension work, and hydraulic repairs
  • Perform wheel and tire replacements and balancing
  • Perform welding and fabrication as needed
  • Conduct routine inspections on vehicles and equipment to identify wear, leaks, or mechanical failures
  • Work with vendors to order parts or send out for specialty services
  • Emergency Repairs & Field Service
    • Respond to breakdowns on job sites or during transit
    • Provide mobile repair service as needed
    • Operate service trucks equipped for mobile repair and diagnostics
    • Prioritize and triage equipment issues that affect project timelines
  • Maintain fleet appearance, including washing and cleaning of vehicles and equipment



Inspections & Compliance

  • Conduct DOT pre-trip/post-trip inspections and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Identify and tag unsafe equipment; remove from service as necessary
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspections, and work logs



Shop Operations

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment
  • Track and manage parts inventory, tools, and maintenance supplies. Coordinate with vendors for timely procurement of supplies and components
  • Operate service trucks, forklifts, and diagnostic equipment safely and efficiently



Coordination & Reporting

  • Communicate repair needs and timelines with project teams, dispatchers, and supervisors
  • Provide input on equipment conditions and recommendations for replacements or upgrades
  • Track labor, parts, and repair costs for maintenance reporting
  • Log repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Track service intervals and part replacements



Field Operations and Other Tasks

  • Required to drive all types of company vehicles and deliver and pick up project site equipment and material as requested
  • When instructed assist executive management with personal delivery of items to their residences
  • Always abide by all safety policies and procedures
  • Exhibit professional demeanor with team members and clients
  • Perform other assignments as directed by management



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE (Include necessary licenses and specialized training.)

  • 6-10 years’ experience a Mechanic or vehicles, trucks and construction equipment.
  • Certified mechanic, preferred
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair Light Duty trucks and light and heavy dutry construction equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required
  • Detail oriented and capable of carrying out a given task accurately and efficiently.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Must have own basic mechanic tools
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Class B or Class A CDL license preferred
  • Experience diagnosing electrical issues a plus


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  Must be able to stand, bend, climb and kneel for prolonged periods of time.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.  Must be able to work safely in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.  Position will require that employee have manual dexterity, good sense of balance and excellent hand-eye coordination.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
