Health and Fitness Specialist (MA, Bedford)

Aquila's Health and Fitness Specialist assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center.

The salary for this position is $23.50/hour plus company benefits. The start date for the position is as soon as a candidate is hired.  Candidates must be able to work either of these work schedules on alternating days: either 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.  There is no weekend work.

Responsibilities include:

• Supervise exercise areas
• Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
• Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
• Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
• Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
• Explain all equipment
• Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
• Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
• Adhere to client’s policies and procedures
• Attend staff meetings
• Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
• Perform daily administrative duties
