School Social Worker (Elementary)
Location: Dexter, MI
Caseload: Elementary
Start Date: ASAP
About the Opportunity:
AnthroMed Education is seeking a compassionate and student-focused School Social Worker to support students in our partner school district in Dexter, MI. This position is open due to a maternity leave extension and covers the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.
You will serve as the dedicated School Social Worker for an elementary building, joining a robust team of eight social workers across the district. This role offers a unique level of support: a retired School Social Worker from the district will be on-site at least once a week to assist with training, context and offer mentorship.
Caseload and Environment:
- Population: Special Education focused caseload of approximately 52 students
- Service Model: Emphasis on lunch groups and push in support.
- Classroom Setting: Support is focused on resource rooms - very inclusive support
- Hours and Workspace: Consistent school hours from 8:14AM - 3:07PM with a private, dedicated office space.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect social work services to students in need of emotional, behavioral, and social support.
- Facilitate social skills through lunch groups and push-in classroom support.
- Collaborate closely with the 7 Special Education teachers and the broader social work team.
- Facilitate small group and individual counseling sessions.
- Assist with crisis intervention and behavior management strategies.
- Participate in IEP and 504 Plan meetings to advocate for student needs.
- Support students and families in accessing community resource.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Michigan School Social Work Certification
- Experience working with school-aged children for one year.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $45 - $60/hour, based on experience (paid weekly)
