About the Role:
The Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by ensuring that all ingredients and supplies are prepared efficiently and to the highest quality standards before cooking begins. This position supports the culinary team by performing essential food preparation tasks such as washing, chopping, measuring, and organizing ingredients. The Prep Cook helps maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations. By preparing ingredients accurately and promptly, the Prep Cook enables the kitchen to operate smoothly and meet service demands. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall dining experience by supporting the timely and consistent delivery of high-quality meals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliable time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or food preparation role.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and culinary terminology.
- Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities during busy service times.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards.
- Wash, peel, chop, and measure vegetables, fruits, and other food items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including sanitizing surfaces and equipment.
- Assist with inventory management by receiving and storing deliveries properly.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Support chefs and cooks by providing prepared ingredients as needed during service.
- Dispose of waste and recyclables in accordance with kitchen policies.
