About this job
Job Description
Lighting Maintenance Inc. (LMI) is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager’s Assistant to support the day-to-day execution of our fleet operations. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role supporting a large and growing fleet across Maryland and Virginia.
This position works directly for and alongside the Fleet Manager, with primary responsibility for Maryland-based fleet activity. The role exists to ensure fleet tasks are completed quickly, accurately, and without bottlenecks, allowing fleet strategy and utilization decisions to be executed in real time.
This is not a shared admin role and not a stepping-stone position. Fleet is one of LMI’s largest expenses, and this role plays a direct part in controlling overhead and protecting company assets.
What This Role Does
This position handles the administrative and operational backbone of fleet management, including but not limited to:
- Vehicle registrations, tags, titles, and renewals
- Insurance documentation, COIs, and vehicle schedules
- Maintaining accurate fleet lists and vehicle records
- Coordinating vehicle purchases, sales, transfers, and disposals
- Tracking vehicle assignments, take-home approvals, and utilization data
- Scheduling inspections and documenting vehicle condition at dispatch and return
- Supporting fleet audits and utilization reviews
- Acting on fleet needs in real time at the direction of the Fleet Manager
When something needs to be done, this role executes it. No waiting, no chasing approvals.
The Right Candidate Is
- Motivated, disciplined, and action-oriented
- Has at least 5 years of fleet administration experience, preferably in utility or construction environments
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable managing paperwork, deadlines, and compliance requirements
- Able to act independently once direction is given
- Calm under pressure and capable of handling multiple priorities
- Comfortable working on-site in Harmans, MD
- Experienced with vehicles, fleet systems, or asset tracking
- Familiar with registrations, insurance documentation, and equipment tracking
We’re proud to provide you not just a job, but a career and a rewarding professional opportunity to refine your skills and add new ones. You’ll be helping us maintain our leadership in the lighting industry. Our pledge is a workplace that is open, cooperative, respectful and dynamic, designed to bring out your best, and LMI’s best.
The LMI Open Door Policy, empowers our employees to take problems to the next management level, and resolve them with your immediate supervisor. We also invite suggestions for ways we can improve productivity, efficiency and safety. At LMI the safety and well-being of employees, customers and the public are our top priorities.
