Position Overview
The Plant Ground Hand Laborer position is an integral part of the plant crew working with the entire team and management to ensure jobs are completed to high standards. The ideal candidate is familiar with physical labor and is able to perform tasks related to HMA work in numerous settings and environments.
Key Responsibilities
- General laborer duties associated with HMA plants.
- Required ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools.
- Equipment cleanup as needed.
- May be called upon to run small power tools.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Maintain the yard and plant, keeping it neat and free from debris
- Shovel material around and onto conveyors
- General housekeeping around the plant facilities
- Assist with cleaning parts, material, and equipment
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Plant Manager
- Always adhere to all plant rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
- May be trained to operate forklift, loader, etc.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1 year (or under) experience
- Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Entry Level Position
- Working knowledge of aggregate production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations, a plus
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
Working Conditions
- Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
- Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Proper PPE is required at all times.
