Job Description
THIS ROLE WILL BE ONSITE 4 DAYS PER WEEK IN MANHATTAN.
Key Responsibilities
Billing:
· Manage the full client billing lifecycle, from pre-bill review through final invoice submission, utilizing CaretLegal and/or Timeslips.
· Responsible for all aspects of client billing, including editing and creating bills.
· Partner closely with attorneys and legal support teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely billing.
· Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and client inquiries with professionalism and attention to detail.
· Support a high volume of sophisticated billing matters while maintaining consistency with client guidelines and firm policies.
Matter/Document Management:
· Create and update clients, matters and timekeepers in systems.
· Process various time and costs charges.
Accounts Receivable/Staff Accounting:
· Ensure accurate and timely payment processing.
· Monitor aging reports.
· Follow up on outstanding payments and ensure adherence to payment terms.
· Address and resolve any disputes or issues related to invoices or payments.
· Provide various ad-hoc financial information to partners, clients and within the department.
· Participate in the monthly closings and reporting as required.
· Interact and respond to inquiries from attorneys and staff.
· Assist with special projects as needed.
· Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of legal billing experience within a law firm environment.
· Strong working knowledge of legal billing platforms, matter/document management platforms (Worldox/NetDocs) Excel, Word and Adobe.
· Detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative professional who performs well in a deadline-driven setting.
· Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
· Accounting degree preferred.
