Position Summary: The Lantern Columbia's Receptionist is the key person to welcome guests and to assist them during their stay. The Receptionist should exude care for the guest's well being and be the conduit to The Lantern's ambition for guests to feel positive emotions while with us. The Receptionist will quickly and accurately check the guest in and out, assign rooms, address questions, oversee the retail sales (adjacent to the Welcome Table) and assist with future reservations.

Essential Job Functions
- Exude care for the guest's well-being in all interactions, in-person and on the phone.
- Accurately and efficiently check guests in and out in the PMS.
- Accurately answers inquiries from potential guests and accepts hotel reservations.
- Resolve guest issues in an efficient manner while demonstrating a sense of concern and urgency.
- When applicable, use suggestive selling techniques to up sell room categories.
- Match ETAs to available rooms (and any specific guest requests) to expedite the check-in process.
- Builds strong relationships and coordinates with all other departments (housekeeping, maintenance, etc.).
- Ensure all guest information is received and inputted at check-in (home address, email address, mobile phone).
- Cross checks all billing instructions to ensure they are correctly updated.
- Efficiently handles group arrivals, pre-register guest if on a master list, individually check in if not.
- Ensure payments are made or on file for each guest and that billing is routed for groups and direct bill accounts correctly.
- Ensures Reception log (book or system) is read and updated.
- Ensures safety by following guest check-in and security procedures and reporting suspicious activity to security, manager, or MOD.
- Assists all departments in servicing the guests especially during high volume periods.
- Attends meetings as required.
Experience and Education:
Experience in customer service, forward-facing, or other guest-related positions
Experience in the hospitality industry, hotels, restaurants or similar in various roles preferred
Proficient in Microsoft 365 or similar computer applications
Minimum High school diploma, GED or equivalent
