Northeast Career Planning has a new Barista position available! This is more than a barista job — it’s an opportunity to combine excellent coffee with meaningful work.
As the Staff Barista – Coffee Bar Supervisor & Coach, you will lead daily operations of the Unity House supported employment coffee bar while coaching and mentoring individuals who may face barriers to employment. You’ll serve high-quality coffee, create a welcoming café environment, and help staff and program participants build confidence, skills, and workplace success.
Sign on Bonus $750
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (No weekends!) Coffee Bar Hours: 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead daily coffee bar operations, including opening and closing procedures
• Coordinate workflow to ensure efficient, friendly, and timely service
• Assign daily tasks and monitor progress throughout each shift Maintain food safety, sanitation, and workplace compliance standards
• Ensure a consistently warm and welcoming customer experience
• Train staff and supported employment participants in barista skills, customer service, and workplace expectations
• Provide clear, patient, hands-on instruction tailored to different learning styles
• Reinforce positive workplace behaviors such as punctuality, teamwork, professionalism, and communication
• Supervise staff and program participants during active shifts
• Offer real-time coaching, encouragement, and constructive feedback
• Identify performance challenges and collaborate with program staff to support growth and success
• Model respectful, inclusive, and professional behavior at all times
Qualifications:
• Associates degree preferred
• At least 1 year of experience working as a barista
• An acceptable combination of education and experience in food service, café operations, or customer service will be considered
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience ordering supplies or managing inventory in a coffee bar or food service setting
• Experience training, coaching, or supervising others in a public-facing retail environment (coffee experience strongly preferred)
• Prior experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment, or in supported employment, workforce development, or human services
