We at Vivo are looking for a Medical Records Clerk at our new Boerne, TX location! The Medical Records Clerk would be responsible for the comprehensive management and maintenance of patient medical records within the clinic or medical practice. This includes ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of both electronic and paper records. The individual in this role will be responsible for filing, retrieval, scanning, and indexing of patient documents, as well as processing record release requests and managing disability and FMLA forms.
The Medical Records Clerk plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and practice policies, supporting audits and quality control checks, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the practice's administrative operations. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, commitment to upholding compliance requirements, and a thorough understanding of medical records management principles.
Compensation:

Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00 / hr

Location : 1580 S Main ST, STE 201 Boerne, TX 78006
Reports to: Clinical Operations Manager
Primary responsibilities:
- Accurately file, retrieve, and maintain electronic and paper medical records in compliance with HIPAA and practice policies.
- Scan, index, and upload patient documents into the electronic health record system.
- Ensure all records are complete, up-to-date, and organized.
- Resolve any discrepancies found in patient records.
- Process and track record release requests from patients, physicians, and other authorized parties following release procedures as outlined by HIPAA, the company, and any additional outside compliance entities.
- Provide support for audits and quality control checks of medical records.
- Assist with processing incoming/outgoing mail as required.
- Manage disability and FMLA requests from patients.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and practice policies regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.
Secondary responsibilities:
- Stay up-to-date on changes in medical records regulations and best practices.
- Attend company meetings and trainings as required.
- Assist with additional projects or assignments as determined by the Administrator or Operations Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical records or healthcare administrative role, required.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, required. Experience working with eClinicalworks, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations, required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
