Overview
As a Network Infrastructure Technician (Tier 1) at Surf Internet, you play a crucial role in maintaining and managing our fiber optic and wireless network infrastructures. Your primary responsibilities include ensuring the continuous operation of our network services, addressing and resolving network issues, and performing both routine and emergency maintenance. Your work is vital in delivering reliable internet services to our residential and commercial customers.

Responsibilities:
General:

Operate a variety of mechanical equipment, including trucks, trailers, excavators, backhoes, cement mixers, and similar machinery for tower and fiber network infrastructure projects.

Utilize hand and power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, hammers, and other relevant equipment for installation and maintenance tasks.

Strictly adhere to company and industry safety guidelines to ensure a secure work environment, including 100% attachment to towers when working above 6 feet.

Maintain precise site plans and records, including comprehensive photographic documentation for all tower and fiber network locations.

Act as a professional and positive representative of the company in all interactions with customers, vendors, colleagues, and peers.

Communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders.

Monitor and manage inventory levels, promptly notifying the purchasing department when supplies are running low or depleted.
Issue and Ticket Management:
-
Manage service tickets related to outages and technical problems.
-
Respond promptly to tickets, diagnosing and resolving issues to restore service and minimize downtime.
Repairs and Troubleshooting:
-
Conduct thorough troubleshooting and repair tasks for both fiber optic and wireless networks.

Handle after-hours emergency repairs and maintenance to address network damages and service interruptions.

Utilize OTDR accurately and efficiently to troubleshoot fiber issues

Splicing utilizing single and ribbon splicers mastery to work on fiber repairs and outages
Documentation and Reporting:

Keep accurate records of network configurations, maintenance activities, and repair logs.
-
Provide detailed reports on network issues, actions taken, and resolution outcomes.
Customer Interaction and Support:
-
Occasionally interface with customers to update them on network status and provide information on outage resolutions.

Ensure clear communication and a positive customer experience.
Collaboration and Coordination:

Work effectively with team members and other departments to resolve network issues and implement improvements.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to collaborative problem-solving efforts.

Adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards in all network-related activities.
