Job Description

Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Austin, TX $30-$48/hr


Summary

We're looking for a certified Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic to join our team. This role involves performing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on our fleet of training aircraft, ensuring adherence to industry and regulatory standards.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance tasks following company procedures and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Read and interpret technical documents such as manuals, parts catalogs, engineering drawings, service bulletins, and regulatory directives.
  • Stay up to date with FAA regulations, particularly 14 CFR Parts 43 and 91.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Work flexible hours, including various shifts as needed.


Requirements

  • A&P license required at time of hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in general aviation as a licensed A&P.
  • Experience working on Piper aircraft is preferred.
  • Familiarity with G1000 avionics is a plus.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions regarding airworthiness.
  • Strong skills in organizing workflow and setting priorities.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, repairs, and performing inspections per FAA guidelines.
  • Experience documenting aircraft maintenance and preparing aircraft for return-to-service.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office; willing to learn the Talon RMS maintenance system.
  • General office equipment and various shop tools.
  • May operate company vehicles such as vans, trucks, and golf carts
  • Exposure to solvents and aviation fuel.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various environments.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Extended periods of standing, sitting, bending, and stooping.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to adapt to changing environments.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting and taking direction.
