We are currently searching for a Tooling Specialist for our Whitestown, IN location. As a Tooling Specialist you can expect to be responsible for all activities associated with mounting dies and plates in coherence with promoting the corporate vision, mission statement, and core values.

About the Role:

The Tooling Specialist plays a critical role in supplying the necessary tools and equipment to the production lines ensuring production requirements and quality standards. This position is responsible for collaborating production teams to optimize tooling processes, reduce downtime, and improve overall efficiency. The specialist will analyze tooling needs, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions that enhance manufacturing capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in tooling design or operating corrugated machines.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to convert fractions to decimals and calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Product layouts and production specifications
  • Product quality specifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic Excel spreadsheet knowledge.
  • Previous Amtech experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Pull machine line-ups as necessary and stage at the appropriate machine ensuring no disruption to production.
  • Layout printing mounts.
  • Mount printing plates and proof for accuracy and proof other mounter’s work for accuracy in accordance with proper setup techniques.
  • File printing mounts and plates. Pull printing mounts and plates from files.
  • Inspect all incoming print plates and cutting dies, repair as necessary with minimal loss of production.
  • Report any necessary replacements of printing plates and cutting dies as they are discovered.
  • Proof all incoming cutting dies.
  • Submit accurate ink inventory as scheduled, including piece kits.
  • Store ink in proper storage location daily.
  • Adhere to production schedule. Make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

Physical Expectations:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
