Responsible for : Delivering ESL lessons to teenage foreign students
Dates:
- Session 1: July 6-July 13
- Session 2: July 20-July 27
- Session 3: August 3-August 10
Teaching timetable:
- Monday: 8:45-12:45 and 2:15-6:15 (8 hours a day)
- Tuesday- Friday: 8:45-12:45 (4 hours a day)
Primary Role
This is a part-time, seasonal position (early July through early August) with International Study and Vacation. Working under the direct supervision of the Teaching Manager, teachers will deliver stimulating and communicative language learning sessions following the ISV USA syllabus. They may also supplement the curriculum with materials related to the topic, program location, or general American culture.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning
Teach pre-designed ESL lessons across various proficiency levels, as directed by the Teaching Manager.
Prepare and adapt pre-made lesson plans to suit class composition.
Inspire and motivate students to improve their learning skills and facilitate communicative, student-centered lessons following the ISV syllabus
Adhere to the ISV USA schedule by starting and finishing lessons promptly and taking breaks as designated in the timetable.
Cultivate a positive learning environment by being sensitive to the needs of the group and individual students.
Be observed by the Teaching Manager for quality assurance and professional development purposes during your contract.
Provide class cover when required.
Administrative DutiesComplete attendance registers within the first 10 minutes of each lesson and report absences to the Teaching Manager.
Attend staff meetings as and when required.
Maintain up-to-date records of lesson plans, covered work, and other teaching-related documentation.
Prepare professional, typo-free student reports within agreed deadlines.
Assist in the collection of student feedback.
Program SetupAttend all required training and orientation meetings before the session starts.
Review ESL curriculum, lesson plans, and accompanying materials before the program begins.
Participate in student welcome meeting, if required
Deliver lessons to class sizes of 16 students.
Supply additional materials to supplement the curriculum where necessary.
Participate in and assist with the session graduation ceremony.
Equipment and FacilitiesPrepare classrooms for use, taking care of school property and equipment and leave classrooms clean and tidy at the end of each lesson.
Promptly report any damage to classrooms or resources and ensure any borrowed equipment is returned.
Return all teaching materials to the Teaching Manager at the close of each teaching day.
Safeguarding and Welfare
Ensure the safety and welfare of students and be vigilant for potential welfare issues.
Report any concerns about students' safety, well-being, or academic performance to the Teaching Manager immediately.
Be aware of and comply with relevant fire, health, and safety regulations in the classroom and around the center.
Professional ConductUphold and actively contribute to ISV USA's mission of delivering high-quality programs.
Design and deliver instruction that supports students in realizing their full potential and achieving their academic goals.
Maintain a professional and presentable appearance.
Ensure prompt start times for all scheduled duties; if unavoidable delays occur, notify your manager immediately.
Cultivate positive professional relationships with both students and colleagues.
ISV USA strictly enforces a zero-tolerance policy against abusive behavior, including violence, threatening, or disrespectful behavior or disorderly conduct.

RequirementsEssential
Must have the right to work in the US and the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check if required; the completion of a satisfactory child abuse clearance may also be required
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required
Proven teaching experience and suitability to work with students under 18: 2 references
Maintain organization of classes and students
Utilize and supplement the program curriculum to facilitate task/project-based learning
Effectively use technology for student attendance and lesson tracking
Be pleasant, polite, and cooperative with fellow employees, vendors, and guests
DesirableESL Summer School Teaching experience in the US

Benefits
HOURS:
One session: 40 hours (30h teaching +10h extra: breaks, orientation, training, welcome meeting, graduation ceremony, daily meetings, lesson prep, admin)
Two sessions: 77.5 hours (40 hours + 37.5 hours in the following session. No new orientation and training).
Three sessions: 115 hours (40 hours + 37.5 hours + 37.5 hours. No new orientation and training)
PAY:
One session: $1,120- $1,200 ( 6 working days)
Two sessions : $2,170- $2,325 (12 working days)
Three sessions : $3,220- $3,450 (18 working days)
Returning staff will automatically receive the higher pay rate.
BONUS: A one-off $250 bonus will be awarded to teachers who complete two consecutive sessions, without any absence or lateness.
LUNCH: Free lunch on Mondays
CONTRACT: Temporary, fixed term
PREPARATION: An online orientation session and an in-person training session need to be completed in order to participate in the program.
