Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Culture

  • Policy Development: Design and enforce EHS standards tailored specifically to high-stakes data center environments.
  • Strategic Advisory: Act as the primary technical resource for senior leadership to align regional safety goals with corporate strategy.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Sales to embed safety into every stage of the data center life cycle.

Field Operations & Compliance

  • Risk Mitigation: Conduct deep-dive hazard analyses for critical systems, including HVAC, Fire Suppression, and Electrical (NFPA 70E).
  • Site Oversight: Manage on-site EHS performance for both internal teams and subcontractors to ensure 100% regulatory compliance.
  • Incident Management: Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Ensure total compliance with OSHA, EPA, and NFPA standards.

Environmental & Training

  • Sustainability: Manage waste programs and optimize energy/water usage initiatives.
  • Training Delivery: Develop and facilitate EHS training for employees, vendors, and third-party contractors.
  • Emergency Readiness: Coordinate and lead drills for fire, chemical, and electrical emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of EHS experience, specifically within data centers, industrial construction, or high-tech environments.
  • Location: Must be based in Northern Virginia with the ability to travel occasionally to regional sites.
  • Knowledge Base: Strong grasp of OSHA, EPA, and ISO 14001/45001 frameworks.
  • Technical Familiarity: Hands-on experience with electrical safety, confined spaces, and hazardous materials.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering (preferred).

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Certifications: CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH, or CHMM highly preferred.
  • Technical Savvy: Familiarity with UPS systems, backup generators, and industrial cooling technologies.
  • Software: Proficiency in EHS management software and data reporting tools (Excel).
  • Mindset: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-reliability environment where proactivity is rewarded.
