Job Title: Custodian
Seasonal
Location: Chicago, IL – Onsite

- Executes production of floral arrangements according to requirements, including following sample and floral formulas.
- Works on-site preparing floral décor and follows directions from Event Director.
- Follows the direction from the Floral Lead or Production Manager on any design changes throughout the process.
- Performs all cleaning duties for their work area and department as needed to ensure safety according to company standards. (i.e. floors, tables/workstations, sinks)
- Responsible for basic floral assembly tasks: including taping, wiring, wrapping, packing, foaming, prep work, and any other tasks needed for the project.
- Assists in problem-solving on-site and in-house when needed.
- Supports associate departments with tasks (i.e. Art, Faux Floral, Processing, and Holiday)
- Collaborates with team members to work efficiently and effectively within the time given, as well as upholding company standards.
- May perform other duties as required.

- Complies with all department and company safety guidelines, procedures, and rules.
- Mentors safe work practices to co-workers and team.
- Completes all safety training as directed and within established timelines.
- Communicates professionally with all people, internal and external, in a kind and respectful manner.
- Tracks and enters time to appropriate events and jobs in time and attendance system.
- Completes all Human Resources and Payroll tasks and notifications through the Employee Self Service Online Portal on a weekly basis, as directed and within established timelines.
- Assists in other departments as needed and directed.
Qualifications | What You Need to Bring
- 3+ years’ experience in floral design/production (particularly in a creative or event décor industry).
- Comfortable designing within different floral styles such as: contemporary, organic, modern, ikebana, and classic.
- Proficient in designing lifted and low arrangements, bouquets, large scale installations, etc.
- Ability to repeat floral designs for production and identify quality of floral products.
- Ability to read and interpret floral formulas, and pull sheets.
- Familiarity in working with silk and dried product is helpful
- Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and work as a team.
- Outstanding interpersonal communications and conflict management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and good follow-up.
- Basic reading, writing and math skills.
- Familiarity with floral varieties, design mechanics, and proper packing methods is helpful.
- Ability to effectively use tools and equipment that includes: floral knives and cutters, transport equipment, hand tools. May be required to provide own tools.
- Ability to tolerate long work shifts and work flexible schedules to include evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel locally, and outside the city and state.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements | What it is Like in the Office
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, bend and reach during entire work shift.
- Must be able to stand for 6 or more hours.
- Ability to work with hands and arms during entire shift.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more, bend, push and pull carts over the course of the work shift.
- Must be able to climb ladders without accommodation.
- Ability to handle fragile items safely.
- Required to move between multiple locations throughout the workday.
- Must have 20/20 vision with correction.
- Must be able to tolerate cold, heat and humid conditions.
- Ability to tolerate moderate noise.
Pay & Benefits | What You’ll Receive
- Hourly wage: $24.00 to $25.00 based on experience.
- Overtime pay will be provided for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek at 1.5x the regular rate of pay, in compliance with Illinois labor laws.
