Carpenter Co. has an opportunity available for an Tool Crib Attendant/Entry Level Mechanic position at our Elkhart, IN manufacturing branch. This is an exciting opportunity for a person with basic mechanical aptitude who also will be able to complete inventory and be responsibility for the Tool Crib duties in the maintenance department on 2nd shift(2pm - 10:30pm). This position reports to the Maintenance Manager along with the 2nd shift Superintendent and works in tandem with our fellow co-workers and production supervisors. The starting hourly pay rate for this position is $23.93 to $24.85 per hour. There is an additional $2.00 per hour shift premium for working 2nd shift hours (2pm to 10:30pm).
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to be in constant communication with department managers, maintenance staff and manager to have tools and parts ready and available for the maintenance team to support the mechanical repairs of the production schedules. The successful candidate will work in a normal maintenance and manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes as well as an office during part of the shift. Major challenges of the position involves maintaining proper inventory levels of maintenance department part and equipment while also keeping up with basic entry level mechanical duties/inspections.
Additional responsibilities of this position will include:
- Receive incoming materials for maintenance department.
- Checks material received to correctness of delivery.
- Delivers material to proper area.
- Identifies, knows location of and handles various kinds and sizes of storeroom items.
- Place received material into proper storage location.
- Maintain inventory records of storeroom items, receipts, usage, lead time, physical count, etc.
- Send packing slips and delivery tickets to designated person.
- Take periodic inventory of storeroom items and parts as check on record and to determine current status.
- Issue store items to persons having properly authorized store orders.
- Maintain “Value of Order’” in assigned work areas, including maintenance areas.
- Perform visual inspections on equipment and forklifts.
- Shut down basic machines and may change blades on some equipment.
- May assist mechanics with their duties on the plant floor.
- Will need to be able to fill in for the 1st shift position by either working a split shift or 1st during vacations/time off
- Other duties as assigned by management.
