Position Overview
The Midtown Group is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Consultant Care Specialist to join our Human Resources team in Washington, DC. This role plays a critical part in delivering an exceptional employee experience from offer acceptance through onboarding and ongoing HR support.
The Consultant Care Specialist balances structured onboarding processes with the dynamic needs of day-to-day HR administration. This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive, service-minded professional who enjoys being the face of HR, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about employee engagement and compliance.
This role is 100% onsite in our Washington, DC office.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding & Orientation
- Design, deliver, and continuously enhance engaging new hire orientation sessions that introduce company culture, values, and policies
- Manage pre-hire and post-hire processes, including offer documentation, background checks, onboarding paperwork, and systems access
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires, ensuring a smooth, welcoming transition into the organization
HR Administration & Support
- Support daily HR operations, including maintaining employee files, updating HRIS records, and assisting with benefits and payroll coordination
- Conduct employment verifications and facilitate background check requests
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as internal policies
- Assist with HR reporting, audits, and documentation to support compliance and best practices
Employee Engagement & Retention
- Conduct new hire check-ins to assess engagement, address questions or concerns, and reinforce a positive employee experience
- Act as a liaison between employees, managers, and HR leadership to resolve issues efficiently and professionally
- Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute ideas to strengthen workplace culture
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with HR, IT, and department leaders to ensure all tools, resources, and access are ready for each new hire
- Gather feedback from new hires and managers to refine onboarding and HR processes
- Stay current on HR best practices and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and employee satisfaction
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in onboarding, HR administration, employee engagement, or a related HR function-staffing agency or fast-paced environment experience strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to connect across diverse groups
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, onboarding tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional employee and client service
