Implementation Engineer – EHR Integrations
Location: Hybrid - San Francisco Bay Area
About Rainfall Health
Rainfall Health is an AI-powered compliance and workflow platform helping health systems succeed under CMS’s TEAM Model and other value-based care programs. We help hospitals, surgeons, and care teams improve episode performance, streamline operations, and maximize reimbursement — while supporting better patient outcomes.
Our platform depends on deep, reliable integrations with clinical systems, and that’s where you come in.
The Role
We’re hiring an Implementation Engineer to lead technical integrations with customer EHR and healthcare IT systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of APIs, healthcare data, and real-world deployment.
You will work directly with health system IT teams and internal product and engineering partners to design, build, and deploy API-first integrations that power clinical workflows and analytics inside Rainfall Health.
What You’ll Do
EHR & System Integrations
- Design and implement API-first integrations with major EHR platforms, including: Epic, Cerner (Oracle Health), Meditech, and Athenahealth
- Work with standards such as FHIR, HL7 v2, CCD/C-CDA, and REST APIs
- Configure and manage data interfaces for clinical, scheduling, ADT, orders, and documentation workflows
- Translate health system technical requirements into scalable integration designs
Implementation & Deployment
- Lead technical onboarding for new customers, from interface design through go-live
- Collaborate with hospital IT, interface teams, and EHR analysts during implementation
- Troubleshoot integration issues across environments (test, staging, production)
- Ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and reliability across connected systems
API & Data Architecture
- Partner with internal engineering teams to evolve Rainfall’s integration framework
- Help define reusable patterns and best practices for API-based healthcare integrations
- Build and maintain mapping, transformation, and validation logic for clinical data
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with product, engineering, and clinical teams to ensure integrations support real-world workflows
- Provide feedback from implementations to inform product improvements
- Document integration designs, configurations, and support processes
Security & Compliance
- Ensure all integrations follow HIPAA-compliant data handling and security best practices
- Support audit and logging requirements for healthcare data exchange
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 4+ years of experience in healthcare IT, interoperability, or technical implementations
- Hands-on experience integrating with at least one major EHR system
- Strong experience with FHIR APIs and/or HL7 v2 interfaces
- Experience working directly with hospital or health system IT teams
- Ability to troubleshoot complex data and interface issues independently
Strongly Preferred:
- Direct experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or Athenahealth integrations
- Familiarity with EHR tools such as Epic Bridges, App Orchard, Cerner Ignite, Meditech APIs, or Athenahealth APIs
- Experience with interface engines (e.g., Mirth, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Ensemble)
- Understanding of clinical workflows in perioperative or procedural care settings
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-based integration platforms or middleware
- Exposure to value-based care or bundled payment programs
- Basic scripting or development skills (Python, JavaScript, SQL) for data transformation
What Success Looks Like
- Smooth, reliable EHR integrations that power clinical and operational workflows
- On-time, low-friction customer implementations
- Strong trust and collaboration with hospital IT and clinical informatics teams
- Scalable integration patterns that accelerate future deployments
