Mobile Heavy Equipment & Commercial Truck Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Mechanic to support our civil construction operations by performing on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy equipment. This role operates directly in an active construction environment and requires strong mechanical expertise, self-direction, and a safety-first mindset.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in the field, responding to equipment issues on job sites, and keeping projects moving by minimizing downtime.

Equipment & Vehicles Serviced

This position services a wide range of diesel and light-duty equipment, including but not limited to:

• Commercial Trucks:

  • Mack

  • Peterbilt

  • Kenworth

• Heavy Equipment:

  • CAT excavators

  • CAT skid steers

  • Dozers

  • Backhoes

  • Skid steers (various models)

• Light-Duty Trucks & Support Vehicles

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs

• Conduct preventative maintenance and routine servicing

• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems

• Respond to breakdowns at active construction sites

• Inspect equipment and identify safety or operational concerns

• Maintain accurate service and repair records

• Communicate clearly with supervisors and equipment operators

• Follow all jobsite safety and compliance requirements

Requirements

• Proven experience as a mobile mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or diesel mechanic

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems

• Experience working in a civil construction or industrial jobsite environment

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required)

• Own tools preferred (company service vehicle provided, if applicable)

• Ability to lift, bend, and work in outdoor conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on heavy equipment or commercial truck experience

• CAT equipment experience a plus

• Welding or fabrication experience a plus

• DOT inspection experience a plus
