Overview:

A Directional Bore Rig Operator sets up, operates, and maintains horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to install underground utilities (fiber, pipe, cable) with minimal surface disruption. Responsibilities include interpreting utility maps, steering the drill head, ensuring site safety, and maintaining equipment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Equipment Operation: Safely operate HDD rigs, mixing systems, and locating equipment
• Site Planning & Execution: Review, interpret, and follow blueprints, utility maps, and bore plans.
• Safety & Compliance: Conduct pre-trip inspections, perform job hazard analysis, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Locating & Drilling: Utilize locating equipment to monitor the drill head, ensuring accurate placement and avoiding underground obstacles.
• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on rigs, including checking fluids and grease, and repairing tools.
• Site Restoration: Perform labor tasks such as potholing, rod handling, and site cleanup.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Requires 1-3+ years of experience in HDD.
• Valid Driver's License is required; CDL Class A
• Ability to read blueprints, understanding of underground utility construction, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors, lift heavy equipment, and work long hours, including overtime.

Working Conditions:

• Requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
• Frequently involves working with crews and interacting with clients to ensure project goals are met.
• May require travel and working in remote locations.
