Under the general supervision of the Security Operations Manager, the Security Technician will join a team of technical staff who are responsible for the timely installation and maintenance of a variety of state-of-the-art security systems and related components across Getty locations in Los Angeles. We are looking for an individual with knowledge and experience in maintaining one or more of the following technical areas: closed circuit television (CCTV), radio communication systems, access intrusion systems, access programming, and commercial locksmithing, to serve as a technician in the field. This role will be exposed to all areas of technical support and may perform routine duties in relation to any of the specialty areas above. The Security Technician may assist with larger-scale projects as assigned, which may include being a point of contact for vendors/contractors.
Maintains inventory of hardware, performs routine audits and preventative maintenance of all required equipment.
CCTV:
Installs, maintains, and assists in the deployment of Getty security systems, including but not limited to the following:Install new monitors/desktops and cameras interior and exterior locations
Check and replace cameras on regular schedule to verify presence of video stream
Replace field network switches in partnership with GDI and troubleshoot camera feeds that are malfunctioning
Access Intrusion Systems:
Replace and test functionality of field devices including motion detectors, contacts, etc.Install, replace, and test field devices including card readers, motion detectors, etc.
Install/program field panels, pull low voltage cable for device installation
Install and maintain display case alarm devices
Conduct preventive maintenance of access to intrusion devices and systems
Radio Communication Systems:
Maintain service portable radios for all stakeholdersMonitor status of radio repeaters, coordinate service in partnership with GDI
Program portable radios with talk groups
Maintain inventory of hardware
Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults, wiring issues and component failures.
Locksmithing:
Duplicate keys, assembling key sets, replace lock cylinders and issue/retrieve keysInstall/replace full mortise locksets and panic hardware
Enter/delete records in key database
Basic lock assembly adjustments and lubrication
Enter key sets in SKD System
Pin lock cylinders
Install, maintain, replace card readers, electrified locksets and hinges
Coordinate with Facilities for repair/replacement of doors
Change safe combinations as needed
Applies knowledge of sophisticated security systems to daily assignments and larger projects, in the areas of CCTV, access intrusion alarms, access programming, radio communications and commercial locksmithing.
- High School/GED
- Minimum 2-3 years related experience with security systems, and low voltage awareness
- Certification in area of specialization is preferred for CCTV, Radios, Locksmith, and Access Control
- Certification in low voltage is preferred
- Prior experience with IP address configuration and server connectivity for CCTV and Security Access Control, are preferred
- Training in basic electronics and computers
Technical Skills
Basic understanding of lowvoltage wiring
Familiarity with tools such as drills, crimpers, cutters, toners, and multimeters
Basic computer skills and ability to connect devices to a network
Ability to read smallscale wiring diagrams
Soft Skills
Good communication and customer service abilities
Strong attention to detail (especially with labeling and documentation)
Ability to follow instructions and learn new technology quickly
Basic time management and ability to handle multiple tasks
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry equipment (panels, batteries, tools) up to, but not exceeding 50 LBS
Comfortable using ladders and working in ceilings or tight spaces
Able to stand, bend, or climb for extended periods
