Irrigation Technician II

Job Summary

The Irrigation Technician II is responsible for maintaining and optimizing both traditional multi-wire and advanced 2-wire decoder irrigation systems across diverse landscapes. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing irrigation systems to ensure peak performance and water efficiency across residential, commercial, or golf course properties.

Duties/Responsibilities

Conventional System Service

• Troubleshoot and repair solenoids, valves, controllers, and wiring
• Identify shorts, broken wires, and faulty connections
• Adjust zone timing and optimize water schedules
• Replace damaged sprinkler heads and lateral lines

2-Wire System Service

• Diagnose decoder communication failures and signal issues
• Use multimeters and decoder testers to isolate faults
• Replace or reprogram decoders, surge protectors, and grounding modules
• Update controller firmware and reconfigure zone addresses

Preventative Maintenance

• Perform seasonal system checks (spring activation, winterization)
• Inspect for corrosion, water intrusion, and rodent damage
• Document service logs and update system maps
