Description:

The employment period is from May 26 – June 12, 2026. The daily work hours are 8:30 am- 5:00 pm. This position is 100% in person. The overarching responsibility of the Lead Mentor is supervision each Summer Mentor and the general support the program and our students. This position involves tutoring, mentoring, and supporting instructional engagement. Summer Mentors are required to model and exhibit those behaviors expected of future healthcare and/or other professionals. Summer Mentors are also expected to adequately support the program through active and timely communication with the students and program administrators.

 

General Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive and fun attitude that students may follow
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff members
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, even temper and growth mindset
  • Foster personal development for individual students and a sense of belonging/community for all.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through preparedness, dress and communication with students and the rest of the team
  • Provide timely feedback to students on progress
  • Assist with technology difficulties within technology platforms (Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Office)
  • Lead planning of specialized activities with students and other instructors as needed

Specific Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Attend and actively participate in training May 27 – May 30, 2025, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
  • Work weekly required hours, attends staff meetings, and evaluate process of the program
  • Plan, organize, and lead innovative lesson plans and virtual activities for students
  • Assist with daily check-ins and attendance during the program hours
  • Grade student work, and provide timely feedback to student reflections
  • Actively chaperone student movement (walking, riding on bus)
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of learning space (squatting, lifting <40lbs)
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

 

We are seeking current undergraduate, medical, and graduate students, to work as SAT tutors, and classroom leaders. Applicants should have:

  • Experience with leading a team
  • mentoring high school aged youth.
  • Reliable transportation to and from Emory School of Medicine
  • Comfort with sending and receiving information/feedback online using personal phone
  • Successful completion of background check
  • Reliable transportation

    2. Personal Statement writing
  • This year, our instructors will be responsible for leading labs that have been purchased for our program. We are especially interested in candidates comfort working with the following areas:
    1. Lab Safety
    2. Dissection of Heart/Brain
    3. Social Determinants of Health
