JOB SUMMARY:
This position is for the student who is actively pursuing a career in the automotive/heavy duty truck repair industry. This person is currently enrolled/attending full-time vocational training program, and will be receiving hands on training and experience while working full-time in the automotive department. Compensation will reflect the need to acquire tools required to be competitive in this industry.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include but not limited to the following:
- Attends vocational technical school, maintains acceptable grade and attendance requirements at both school and work.
- Performs work in auto shop that reflects current skill levels.
- Acquires basic tools needed to perform the work, diagnose the problems efficiently, etc.
- Will need combination two years of school and experience to attain the level of Auto Technician I.
Other related duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Skills include but may not be limited to: basic typing, word processing and general computer skills: telephone and offices equipment skills: familiarity with general functions of office duties; the ability to communicate verbally and in writing: the ability to compile and organize proper paperwork, the ability to work independently exercising good judgment and initiative: familiarity with the fundamental rules of grammar and math; the ability to maintain confidentiality of information; the ability to clearly communicate with segments of the population. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
- Must pass extensive background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be eligible to drive under the NIT Personnel Policy.
High School Diploma or GED Certificate
Clerical or secretarial experience.
Adequate information with agencies to perform duties successfully.
