Accounts Payable Specialist Department: Accounting Location: Charlotte, NC
Salary: $28 - $32 Per Hour

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

Reports To: Manager, Accounts Payable

Direct Reports: No Functional Unit: Accounting & Finance

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Type: Full-Time

Ensure all vendor invoices are properly reviewed, documented, and accurately recorded according to company policies, federal, state, and local regulations governing AP payments.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure proper coding of invoices, approval process, timely payment processing, and vendor reconciliations.
  • Follow up with accounts to resolve issues and answer questions.
  • Main point of contact for vendor relationships and inquiries.
  • Resolve contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.
  • Balance accounts payable to general ledger monthly and ensure accurate aging reports.
  • Support and work with Accounts Payable Manager to identify and execute process improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct month-end closing activities and provide supporting documentation for audits.
  • Responsible for the processing and distribution of annual Form 1099�s.
  • Assist with setup of forms of payments options for vendors (ACH, EFT, P-Card, etc.)
  • Cross train with other accounting associates, and document work procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED

  • Three (3) - five (5) years of Accounts Payable processing experience.
  • General knowledge of accounting and understanding of the general ledger coding and accounts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of standard concepts, practices & procedures of accounting/bookkeeping principles.
  • General knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close processes experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and process financial and accounting data.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite applications, and ERP systems (Great Plains, SAP, Epicor, etc.). GP experience highly preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
