Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Paint Robotics Digital Engineering Engineer to support offline robot programming and feasibility studies within a high-volume automotive paint manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers who are trainable, eager to learn, and interested in robotics, digital engineering, and automotive production.

This position supports the Paint Digital Engineering group in developing robotic processes for underbody coatings, primer, basecoat, clearcoat, and interior applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain offline robot programs for robotic paint production processes

  • Support robot feasibility studies, reach studies, and cycle time analysis

  • Coordinate with Regional Paint Engineers to conduct trials and evaluations

  • Analyze processes based on safety, quality, productivity, and cost

  • Lead cross-functional meetings and create technical documentation

  • Download and validate robot programs for production

  • Support plants across North America through travel as needed

  • Work closely with Digital Engineering leadership and plant teams

Equipment & Software
  • Offline robot programming tools (Toyota-specific Carrot3 or equivalent)

  • Kawasaki robots

  • SolidWorks / 3D CAD tools

  • Met-lab / 3D imaging software

  • Digital Engineering tools

Required Qualifications
  • Experience programming robotic systems offline OR equivalent robotics experience

  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software

  • Exposure to robotics, automation, or automotive manufacturing environments

  • Strong problem-solving and project coordination skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction

Education & Experience
  • 2-year or 4-year technical degree (Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, or similar)
    OR equivalent work experience

  • 0–3 years of experience (co-op or internship experience welcomed)

  • Paint shop experience is a plus but not required

Preferred Skills
  • Automated robotic paint shop applications

  • Digital engineering experience

  • Automotive manufacturing exposure

  • Basic project management experience
