The Operations Decision Science team at Delta seeks an operations research scientist to take on developing data-driven solutions aimed at continually improving airline performance and decision making. An appropriate candidate will have good technical knowledge of operations research optimization models, simulation models, and core data science/data engineering skillset. The candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills and feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment. The role will support the delivery of decision support applications based on optimization models and data science. Primary Functions: + Design, develop, implement, and calibrate optimizationproducts + Build complex data sets from multiple data sources, bothinternally and externally. + Partner with Information Technology to optimize andenhance the database environment for optimal efficiency and best practices + Provide technical leadership to Delta's business units + Leverage emerging technologies and identify efficient andmeaningful ways to disseminate data and analysis to satisfy the business’ needs + Lead complex process improvement and project managementengagements for both individual business units and cross-divisionalinitiatives. + Interface with business unit leaders to develop andmaintain internal customer relationships + Practices safety-conscious environment resulting inemployee safety and well-being What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) + Working knowledge in multiple optimization methods (LP,MILP, QCP, MIQP, CP etc.) + Working knowledge in commercial optimization solvers(Gurobi, Cplex, etc.) + Working knowledge in model tuning/calibration + Familiarity with AWS + Proficiency in working with relational databases andquery authoring (SQL) + Proficiency in Python, C++ or other programming languages + Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonalskills + Strong project management, organizational, andprioritization skills + Must be performing satisfactorily in present position + Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self,others, and personal data. + Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. + Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high schoolequivalency. + Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to workin the United States.
