Supporting applied microbiology in a hands-on research environment
At Microbiologics, we support the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic testing worldwide through high-quality biological products and scientific expertise. Our Microbiology Research & Development team plays a critical role in improving existing products and developing new products and processes that support real-world applications.
We are seeking an R&D Microbiology Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in a microbiology laboratory environment. This internship is ideal for students interested in microbiology, molecular biology, and laboratory-based research who want practical experience working with microorganisms, instrumentation, data analysis, and scientific documentation.

What You’ll Do
Microbiology Research Support
- Handle and work with microorganisms in a controlled laboratory environment
- Prepare media and other components used in microbiology and molecular biology experiments
- Use laboratory instrumentation related to analysis and preservation of microorganisms
Data, Documentation & Research
- Perform data analysis and assist with interpretation of experimental results
- Conduct peer-reviewed literature searches to support research activities
- Assist with scientific writing and documentation of studies
Collaboration & Learning
- Collaborate with laboratory staff on ongoing R&D projects
- Participate in process improvement and product development initiatives
- Attend Granite Partners Internship Bridge meetings
- Create and present a capstone project
- Attend internal Microbiologics internship program meetings

Education & Experience
- Must be a current student at a college or university
- Major in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field preferred
- Practical laboratory experience preferred
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, is a bonus
- Experience in research and basic knowledge of statistics preferred
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications
- In good academic standing (minimum 2.50 GPA)
